The Success of your apartment hunting venture can be condensed into just a couple words. At the end of the search, are you happy and satisfied with your new abode?
Some of your best ways to determine any positive resolution is to ask the one question nearly all disregard and that question is “Why?”. Behind every want and desire you have there needs to be a fundamental why. As an object lesson; if you say “I want a new car” Ok, great but why? As soon as you answer the question of why you will understand what your true needs are. And only once you understand your real, true needs can you fulfill them and be truly happy with the outcome.
Yes, I know this sounds like a lesson in philosophy not apartment hunting but I promise you it will all make sense in a second.
Now, as you likely already know, once you get really clear on what it is you want, I mean truly crystal clear and hold that in your mind your will to the point of your clarity unerringly journey towards it. So, sit back for a moment, write them down if need be but ask yourself what do you really want in your new apartment. List out all of them on, I do it on a notepad. Then comes the fun part. With each item you wrote down next to it answer the question of WHY? Why do I want a 3000 square foot place or why do I want a huge bedroom. The huge bedroom one was one of mine and it’s because I always wanted huge furniture headboards with big Imperial beds with Lordly bedroom furniture headboards. To me growing up this was a sign that you were doing well. A great big bed and bedroom furniture was one of the high points of a home. After all you do spend eight hours there every day.
But once you answer the singular questions of why you want your finite desires then you will now truly understand your needs and when you purposely go out and fill them you will be happy. This believe it or not is how it works with every aspect of our lives. It is once we distill the true nature of our desires and hold them in our minds that we will start our journey towards them. If you are wishy washy and scattered on not just what you want but more importantly why you want it your results too will err in direct proportion.
I solved my why I wanted such a big bedroom. It was to accommodate my massive bedroom furniture headboards which I did not yet even have. But once I became clear in my mind as to what I wanted and why, I got both.
